Almost Paintball Season!

I'm super excited for paintball season.

This year, for Invasion of Normandy at Skirmish in Pennsylvania, the team I run with is celebrating ten years playing that game, and we're going to fight with the Allies!

Photoshop. Couple hours on and off. She's messy but I kinda like it that way.

Been busy

Sorry for the neglect, oh blog of mine!

Took a lovely vacation in the Adirondacks with my boyfriend, then moved to our first place that's just ours, then juggled work and more work and volunteering and and art show and... yeah. But I have some art to show you!!!

 Here's some bulldogs I painted for our Dog Show. Acrylic on wood panel and SOLD! I stayed up late painting this and another piece I don't have a good picture of right now.

 This is a car door I painted for our Cat Show II. My lovely boyfriend went dumpster diving and returned with a full on BMW car door. Which of course was a veiled excuse to buy a Sawzall and cut most of the frame off for me. Oh, and he had a bunch of tires hanging around, as you do.
There's a possibility of this getting sold to a local shop that's hot rod themed- don't know yet, but fingers crossed!

And finally, this here is Tank Dempsey of Call of Duty, Der Riese. I've been commissioned by the awesome Reed to do a series of posters of the main guys from this side of the game. It's my goal to make a whole section of my portfolio hockey players/sports. I really want to get into sports illustration. I absolutely LOVE doing portraits of these guys. My next challenge for myself is to traditionally paint a more old school player (i am beyond obsessed with the evolution of the goalie mask), so expect someone like Gump Worsley or Jacques Plante soon.

Howdy tharr y'all

 Hey y'all! So it has been WAY too long since I last posted. So here's some stuff. I've been super busy working, planning shows and helping Greg plan Dr. Sketchy's. The first one went well and the next one is in the works! I'll post more soon. That there is one of my pieces from the Cat Show. Around 14"x17" acrylic on gessoed plywood.

At Studio 364 we have a show this Friday, the Medical Illustration show.
Then, June 1st, we're hosting the Rock Show, complete with awesome music art, pinatas, beer, crazy costumes, and more! I have yet to figure out what I'm painting for that.

 This was a quick sketch from the first Dr. Sketchy's. The fabulous Nicole Malone was our model, and she posed amongst taxidermy, bones, and other dead things.

 I've been in a rut, which isn't news. But I've been re-teaching myself how to paint nice skin tones by studying the pinups of Elvgren. So, here's one.

 And here's another. That's the first one I did. All the notes are because I discovered that Yale offers open online courses for free. So I took one on Epidemics in Western Society since 1600s, which led me to getting the book And The Band Played On by Randy Shilts. It's about the epidemiological beginnings of AIDS and its social/political effects. I'm a couple hundred pages in, and it is damned fascinating. Now I'm taking a course on the Hebrew Bible (aka old testament) and MAN is it good, especially coming from an overly religious area where you were basically beat up if you didn't believe whatever out of context scripture someone was spitting at you.

Anyways, Yale. Highly recommended.

In the future, looks like I'm designing some posters for the next Dr. Sketchys, possibly some gig posters this summer, and some shirts for Rib Fest. Allons-y!

got out some paints tonight. had a go at cars yesterday. Need to work a LOT on that. I'm not very good with things that aren't alive. Cars/planes. I love them, SO so much but I'm not very good at painting them.

Nearly 1 am, but here's a post

this was for my mum's bday. she loves colin firth, and she loves cats. so i made the derpiest cat ever and stuck it in a rather grumpy mister darcy's arms.
acrylic scribbling. my reference was a ginger. not that that's important. but,.... yeah.
another zombie pin up nazi. may be a few more yet before we settle on a design/idea.

Spent the weekend around old cars and great friends, and am realllly considering learning pinstriping. I'll be painting a pinup girl on my boyfriend's motorcycle soon, and depending how that goes, I might just jump into this auto painting biz.

Had a helluva time with Flash today. CS5 crashed and we had to upgrade to CS5.5, which wouldn't install. Soo... we roundabouted and made it work but I lost four hours of work >:(


Anyways... whilst it was effing about I doodled Blondie again as usual.

Zombies, rocky horrors, and abs, oh my

Hullo all. My first week of work was awesome. I'm really enjoying what I'm doing and excited to learn more.
I can't wait to move downtown. I went to the public market in downtown Roch yesterday and am soooo ready to bring home fresh produce/bread/wine like I used to when I was in Paris. Oh man. It's going to be so fantastic. I'll also be right by my studio in the Hungerford Building and will be able to spend a LOT more time there. Tonight I just hung out there for 2 hours.

So my pal Justyn and I were hanging out and he gave me a print or two of his. So it's only fair I did some art in return. He wanted a topless witch bitch. So I made her a biker witch bitch.

This is like 30 minutes pen/pencil. I plan to watercolour it. Not too saturated.
