Christmas Card!

This year's card. Photoshop.
Back in August I became rather obsessed with the Lapp and Sami tribes. Some are reindeer herders. Beautiful people with beautiful patterns/clothes.

November 20

This is Ellesandre. The abbey she was hiding in has been burned. Her village is gone. Family captured. She follows blind hope through the cold woods to find the warmth of safety. So long has she wandered that she wanders forevermore, her footprints wiped from existence by her cloak.

Drawing a Day November! In theory...

So I have lots of art to show you guys, if anyone actually still keeps up with blogger. I recently finished 10 illustrations for Dockers for their Game Day line of apparel. It was a fun project. I also have more portraits to post and more portraits to finish, plus a beer hockey logo that is now proudly worn in Halifax!

But here's some of my quick sketches (usually done at lunchtime) for NaNo November Drawmore that I'm doing with some friends. I've missed the last five days. Oops.

yep- quick scribbles. Whatever's in my head at the moment, really.

Stay tuned- more stuff coming! Including christmas cards!

Mountaineers

All day today I've been doing super clean edged flat colored UI elements for a game. I needed a break.

15 minutes later, this emerged.

Akhal-Teke

I'll always love Fjords and Freisians and Paints more, but Akhal-Tekes are insanely beautiful/strong horses. So I painted one. I think i'm more in love with the traditional Turkish bridles. Anyways, 20 minute speedpaint.

Ah, le happy fambly

Years ago we had a cat named bubba. We didn't name him that, his previous owners did. Bubs was a handful when it came to other cats... As in, territorial "hey i'm just gonna piss on everything that should be mine... i.e. the whole house. peace.". We didn't know what was wrong, and after a couple very epic episodes, we thought kidney failure and almost had the poor devil put down.
So my sister took him. She has two other cats. They mostly got along, the constant pissing stopped, but the fighting was taking a toll on all 3.
Fast forward to a couple weeks back, Carter and I just got our first place that is just ours, and it's a second story. No other cats, no outside cats, so, we got a Bubs.

He's a great cat on his own, and here's a family portrait. We believe he's been abducted by aliens a few times. Explains the crop circle markings on his sides and utter derpiness. Bryzgalov cat.

Been busy

Sorry for the neglect, oh blog of mine!

Took a lovely vacation in the Adirondacks with my boyfriend, then moved to our first place that's just ours, then juggled work and more work and volunteering and and art show and... yeah. But I have some art to show you!!!
Here's some bulldogs I painted for our Dog Show. Acrylic on wood panel and SOLD! I stayed up late painting this and another piece I don't have a good picture of right now.

This is a car door I painted for our Cat Show II. My lovely boyfriend went dumpster diving and returned with a full on BMW car door. Which of course was a veiled excuse to buy a Sawzall and cut most of the frame off for me. Oh, and he had a bunch of tires hanging around, as you do.
There's a possibility of this getting sold to a local shop that's hot rod themed- don't know yet, but fingers crossed!
And finally, this here is Tank Dempsey of Call of Duty, Der Riese. I've been commissioned by the awesome Reed to do a series of posters of the main guys from this side of the game. You can see more about it (and a quick run through my website) here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-D52zxz4Xs and the link to buy the poster Orbitalfix.com

Coming soon: drunk russian, angry nazi, grumpy japanese guy, and a group shot of all 4!
Also coming soon: more hockey players!

It's my goal to make a whole section of my portfolio hockey players/sports. I really want to get into sports illustration. I absolutely LOVE doing portraits of these guys. My next challenge for myself is to traditionally paint a more old school player (i am beyond obsessed with the evolution of the goalie mask), so expect someone like Gump Worsley or Jacques Plante soon.

Thanks for stoppin' by and stay tuned!

Spacegalov

Welcome back, NHL. I am not a Flyers fan, but Ilya Bryzgalov is probably the funniest player in the league to me. So, here's him as a cosmonaut. I took a famous picture of Yuri Gargarin and found a pic of bryz, combined the two and painted away.

Speedpaint.

about 1 hour 15 minutes.

lantern girl

20 minute scribble that popped out of my head after working on some freelance tonight.
