Mady, Supervillainess

Click for bigger/unpixelated view.

She gets her own post because she's Mady. Soon to be former Editor in Chief of Reporter Magazine.
She asked me to draw her. This is what she got. It's cuz we have the same birthday. Right.

RIT kids, go pick up a Distorter. Our April Fools issue. Full of shenanigans and bill destler with a banjo and leather.

i think i'm going to do a digital version.
more mcbess inspired stuff. also may digital this.
again, one of my friends. david. being fabulous in my shades. i would've drawn jai too, but he was too busy drawing me . and draw offs are just awkward.

Long week

My computer has crashed. Dead. As I've been waiting for the harddrive to be erased and as we re-install everything, I drew this. I haven't drawn with just pencil in... Forever it feels like.
So, I'm really upset, and losing my mind, but gotta keep going.
as my original file is currently unaccessible and I don't have time to rescan right now, here's my piece with all the type. Cover of the Reporter. It's cropped a bit here. Acrylic.
Inside that issue...
I like these two best. :) (acrylic in moleskine)
during another long crit, I drew my fellow illustrator Dan A. He just kept staring ahead, blissfully unaware of me doodling him...
I should post more of these. i draw lots of unsuspecting graphic designers in that class.

skutchdump

I like these guys. I think I'll push this one farther. Probably digital. Yeah. Digital.
One of these became the cover of this upcoming issue of Reporter!! Which one? Well, you'll have to wait.
Actually, I'm pretty happy with the inside ills too, but I can't post those until Friday. A priori, and all that.
that's a preview of one of the inside ills.
doodled a skateboarder during a super long boring crit.
and again, that long boring crit... couple of the kids i didn't know on the left, and my friend will drawing on the right. Like you can tell.

CUTE ATTACK

EDIT: top pic there = more boys/cats.
ahhh! gouache cute animal attack! i've never really painted animals a lot, so I thought I'd mess around with it, no pencil underdrawings.
also.
MARU.
and i found cuteboyswithcats.tumblr and died. Seriously. Yes. Thank you, internet gods.
I changed a face here n there.

Been messing with this gouache/pen/ink style. Think it's gonna be my style for an editorial project this quarter.

Full view so you can see detail!!! :D

practice- mohawk

so someone told me this is actually jared leto. uh, i wouldn't really know but, okay.
acrylic portrait. Back from break, so back to traditional work.

My photo ref was black/white, so I made up the flesh tones n all.

About 1 1/2 hours, total, not including random wandering breaks?

I'm happy that my traditional time and digital time are almost identical now.

Django monochrome

There's some things i'll probably change/tweak when I color it later tonight.
The last two portraits I did (clint eastwood and jeff bridges) were really loose, so I tried to tighten this one up a bit.

This is Django, of the Spaghetti Western of the same name. He is the MAN. Carries a submachine gun around in a coffin.

photoshop CS5, 2 1/2 hours I think? Dunno, wasn't paying attention to time.

The Good. Clint.

monochrome- 1 1/2 hours.
Colour- one more hour so 2 1/2 hours in all.

I think i like the one i did of jeff bridges better.
Oh well, had fun :)

photoshop cs5

bronco

not sure i like the outline. Since this was just a quick one, I probably won't fix it.
Background
Idea.

more photoshop.
'nother cowboy ill. I have another one dreamed up already that I'll sketch up tonight. It'll be another cowboy, but he won't be doing cowboy things. For once.

... I think i just like drawing outrageous cartoony expressions lately.

On cowboys and armadillers

On another cowboy kick.

may do more to it sometime, but it was really just more for fun. May do another tonight.

jeff bridges speedpaints

1 hour
1 hour 45 minutes.

Saw True Grit for the second time tonight. God I love that movie. Decided to warm up by painting the amazing Jeff Bridges. Now, onto some more cowboys/great depression paintings. I'm on a digital kick today.

Depression

this... just... .happened. and i really like it. old depression lady caricature almost.
guy in it...
and without.

Just mucking about with great depression/dustbowl ideas. Why? dunno. Why not.
Haven't done any digital in quite awhile, thought I'd give 'er another whirl.
