I'll always love Fjords and Freisians and Paints more, but Akhal-Tekes are insanely beautiful/strong horses. So I painted one. I think i'm more in love with the traditional Turkish bridles. Anyways, 20 minute speedpaint.

Chevy and Nixon

 here's a quick 40 minute practice of a new technique. scribbled with pencil then wouldn't let myself use opaque paint. just layered a lot of acrylic washes. man, it's hard to not just slap down the paint i want to. Eh, it's a start. Young Chevy Chase.

I'm in a rut

I'm having an awful go of it lately. I can't seem to paint well at all right now. Nothing's going how I want it to. To say it's depressing and frustrating doesn't even begin to cover it.

Well, here's another struggling failure. I was trying to paint Gil Perreault. It's... not where I want it to be. But again, I figure I should post my failures as well as my successes.

I'm sorry. I'll try to get my ability back soon. I feel like a bird whose wings have been burnt off. or something else metaphorically horrible. I'm really disappointed and I don't know how to break out of it.

I spent maybe 45 minutes on this. It's definitely not my best work, especially if I compare it to the portrait I did of Sawchuk or even the quick paints of McDonald and Lidstrom.
I didn't get the likeness like I usually do.

I hope to do another, better one at some point. But you gotta post your not so good failures with your accomplishments. Such is progress.
