here's a portrait of the beautiful Kyrie Chamberlain. She painted me in a valentine, and I said I'd paint her too. Acrylic, hour and a half.


and this is a BMW bike I painted on a bday card for my boyfriend. watercolour, pen/ink...

i'm still kinda crap at painting vehicles but slowly, i'm getting better.


I think this little guy is going to show up in the near future.... ;)

In other news, I'm hoping to throw together a show in our studio for First Friday in April, a lot like last year's Gun Show. More details to come.

hiy'all. So there's a song by allison krauss called Jacob's Dream. It's realllllyyyyy effing sad. I would love to illustrate/animate it like a story. Here's a scene from it I doodle up the other day and quickly painted last night. Yeeaah, the one boy is dead. I think I might actually paint this one for real some day. acrylic, thirty minutes.
i doodled myself fighting the flu. showed it to my boyfriend (who had been dying of it earlier) and he said he'd probably just be throwing pills and medicine at it. So I drew him in there. We're both sort of alive now. I think.

little monster guy i'm playing around with.. pretty sure he'll have grey fur n such but who knows. i'll keep doodling him until something flows. Nothing's really flowing yet.

I'd post more often but life, sickness and loved ones have needed my time more than my paintbrushes. But we'll see :)

in other news... I haven't posted because I've been busy making xmas cards for some people. I included a couple on here, but for most I actually forgot to take pictures. I didn't make too many because I spent a lot of time on each one, and I only made them for people who asked.

But it was fun.

Expect another post here soon- I'm gonna do a series of native american portraits for a show in Rochester the first week of January. I just have to get around to doing it.

Puddle monsters and portraits

A couple quick acrylic portraits to blow off some stress. Steve mcCurry photos, obvs. Full view 'em, they look better bigger.
Today I was in a very early morning class and had trudged in through a rather monumental amount of snow.

As I sat there, trying desperately to feign alertness, I realized that my snowboots had dripped a rather sizable puddle onto the floor.

A puddle that looked all funny. So I drew the puddle. And the puddle turned into that guy up there.

He totally was throwing up the horns, man.

and then i watercoloured it. woooo.

Baby Carrots.

couple things for sketchbook.

First one- prompt was "baby carrots". So. Yeah. watercolour/pen/ink

Had to draw some plants. So I drew a rose I saw growing up the side of a building in Giverny (Monet's home) in France.

And a gnarly tree growing out of the rocks at Dead Horse Point, Utah.

Then, some messy doodles with sharpie bleeding thru. I'm gonna do more work this way.

Finally, first attempt at oil painting in a really long time. 18 x24. I'm waiting for it to dry before I fix stuff.

Next piece is going to be acrylic. Probably a portrait. Or something funny.

I can't paint like other artists. I'm gonna try to use the rest of this quarter to figure out MY style. Whatever it is.

I was having a wee bit of fun. Acrylic. 2 hours? ish?

The trees didn't work out like I saw in my head... Sigh. I'll keep trying.
